What is Turkish Music and Voice Library

Around 1993, started first by recording national anthem and placing it on a 1.4M floppy disk. Then placed the file on personal website. later, few legendary Barış Manço songs..Later Several producers and artists including Kalan Muzik and Ulfet Sarıçiçek sent large amount of casettes to be placed in order to stimulate foreign and citizens abroad to listen and purchase cd and cassettes. Before the introduction of youtube, spotify apple music and other services, the only way to reach turkish music was throıgh our libray. We partnered with CD stores and were able to sell significant amount of CD's imported from Turkiye. It was turkishmusic.com at the time that we were partnering with.

Time has changed. Our library was recorded in RealAudio format which was a good format for preview listening at low bitrate. MP3 was becoming available at the time but we did not want to interfere or becomee alternative to CD sales. Instead, we tried to encourage CD sales and we were successful. That was our mission and we succeded. Moreover, foreign nationals who are looking for information were landing in our page and understanding, listening samples. The main difference of our library is cataloging by hand. Therefore one should not "know" in advance who to listen to.

We also have world songs sections as well as trying to generate large collections from various countries. Because we realized that not many people listen cross cultural songs. Todays domination of English Language enforces western style music to be listened and many nice pieces, such as Balkan Music, French, German, African, Chinese, Russian, İranian, Arabic, Indian are not listened to by other nationalitis. We are now trying to establish a portal to open cross cultural music interaction. Youtube is very difficult since even you try to listen for example a russian artist, alphabet immediately becomes a barrier. We don't know what to listen.

Large Greek and Azerbaicani collection which was not mirrored but served from original places were lost since we did not have local copies. For future projects we will be preserving files.

We are also interested in storing voices and videos of "people" around the world. Famous or not.

Our library quality is usually 16Kbit/s old compression. We will not be moving to high grade audio.

Be patient while we are making our home page too.
